Klicpera Theatre

Klicpera Theatre in Hradec Králové is a renowned professional drama stage, established in 1885. The professional ensemble has been active here since 1949, with significant achievements occurring after 1989. The theatre has been awarded the title of Theatre of the Year in the Czech Republic four times, based on the prestigious Alfred Radok Foundation survey.

The theatre hosts two distinguished festivals – Čekání na Václava and REGIONY. In the theatre's foyer, there is the Gallery U Klicperů, which presents a series of exhibitions by painters and graphic artists each season.

Stages and Capacities

Klicpera Theatre operates on four stages:

• Main Stage: capacity 382 seats
• Studio Beseda: capacity 130 seats
• Chamber Stage in the Attic: capacity 50 seats
• Summer Stage: capacity 300 seats

Programming

The theatre enjoys consistent support from its audience both locally and at prestigious festivals in the Czech Republic and abroad, representing Czech theatre culture. In the current season, the artistic ensemble will prepare six premieres.

Klicpera Theatre offers a diverse program for all age groups. The repertoire includes performances for children, youth, adults, and seniors, featuring both classic and modern works. The theatre also offers various tours and accompanying events for schools and groups.

Accessibility

Main Stage and Studio Beseda are fully accessible for wheelchair users and individuals with limited mobility. The Main Stage is equipped with a titling device. Some performances are presented with English subtitles (these performances are marked with the label "English Friendly" in the program). The subtitles are placed on both sides of the stage, so for a comfortable experience, it is recommended to choose seats in the rear part of the ground floor.

Founders and Legal Status

Klicpera Theatre is a non-profit organization founded by the Statutory City of Hradec Králové and the Hradec Králové Region.
